Interpretation of Awards and Industrial Agreements

According to the Fair Work Ombudsman, “an award is an enforceable document containing minimum terms and conditions of employment in addition to any legislated minimum terms.”
Awards may include terms and conditions such as award wages, loadings, penalty rates and so on.

There are often changes to the industrial landscape and award wages, conditions and other agreements are subject to regular scrutiny. Employers who do not implement and comply with any announced changes are likely to face tough penalties.

HRM Consulting are here to help employers with the interpretation of industrial awards and agreements, and with implementing processes to ensure compliance. For assistance with understanding changes and how they affect your business, please contact us.

The introduction of Modern Awards began on 1 January 2010 and will be phased in over a five year period. Find out more information on the changes and transitional arrangements.
